One more rant: The site.

So I took a peek at ye ole' fafcom web site. According to the movie section, it is locked until the end of the fafshow 2004... 3 years ago.
This site is a dinosaur. It doesn't represent what we do anymore. More of a melancholic memory. So... I guess I'd like to know what are we going to eventually do with it. A: Let it it there and rot as-is, a lock on the movies and all... B: Remove the lock and let people watch old-school faf cartoons again C: update the old design, or D: make it into something else, like a sort of loose portal where we can put things up that we do, regardless of what it is. Cartoons... comics... Nintendo... Lawn mowers... etc.
By the straightforward reality that we're so busy that even basic communication between us is becoming a rarity, I doubt we could actually create another site. Besides, if we did, it'd probably sit there for 5 years with nothing being done to it just the last 4 versions.
My only reason for wanting to do something would be for everyone to be able to show the fruits of their labors. We're all doing very different things these days, following different career paths and starting to make major plans for the future. It would be nice to see what everyone is up to. I guess this blog was supposed to be that. Perhaps a site would be more compelling.
Just seems like a shame to let the site just sit.

I'm currently digitizing and collecting FAF content in preparation for a site update. I'm mostly looking at it as an archive of our past and future projects, simply presented. I want to get our films up and not get caught up in the bells and whistles.
An obvious approach is to upload everything to YouTube, Google video or the like, and just have links/embed them on our site. I would prefer to have our own player and host them on our site, but if any of the shorts ever got any kind of traction, we might potentially get slammed on the bandwidth.
I also want to put up a tribute page to McCann, but in FAF spirit, nothin' to sappy. Once I get the content organized and wrap my brain around it, I'll check in with you guies for additional feedback.

I think the Youtube thing sounds like the best idea of all because it requires no work, plus people actually watch things there. Some of our cartoons are now so old that not many people out there have seen them. I was actually thinking of releasing a number of old-timer cartoons of mine on Youtube.
The company I'm doing freelance for also wants to put stuff on there, so I'll see how it works.Come to think of it, perhaps if the comic gets done, it could become a video comic as well.
Sorry for the rant earlier.
